Book review: Robert Galbraith’s ‘The Silkworm’

The Silkworm by J.K. RowlingHe’s back. Cormorant Strike, the detective hero of J.K. Rowling’s mystery series (launched last year with The Cuckoo’s Calling under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith) is still chasing down clues in modern London — with his young gal Friday Robin Ellacott (“the only female in Strike’s life who seemed to have no desire to improve or correct him”). This is a mystery that’s old-fashioned in structure but modern in its sensibility — and its surprisingly frank depiction of violence. Read my full B+ review at EW.com
