The courtroom drama used to be a staple of theater. These days the genre has been ceded to TV where, ba-boom, there used to be multiple iterations of the Law & Order franchise to satisfy our appetite for justice being served. A Time to Kill seems unlikely to revive interest in the format on stage. It’s not that the show is bad exactly, but it pales in comparison to both John Grisham’s book and even Joel Schumacher’s 1996 film. Read my C+ review at EW.com
