‘Honeymoon in Vegas’: Guffaw-out-loud musical

First it was Big Fish. Now with composer Jason Robert Brown’s Honeymoon in Vegas we have another stage musical that actually improves on its big-screen source material: in this case, a 1992 comedy starring Nicolas Cage, Sarah Jessica Parker, and a slew of extras (including a very young Bruno Mars) playing Elvis impersonators. No doubt this Paper Mill Playhouse production will be bound for Broadway at some point — though perhaps not this season since Brown has another screen-to-stage tuner opening this spring, The Bridges of Madison County.
